Here are the answers to some Frequently Asked Questions about us and our railway.
Q: Where are you?
A: We are located behind the Elsecar Heritage Centre, and have our own car park. The postcode for us is S74 8HJ.

Q: How often do you run your services?
A: We primarily run on Sundays and Bank Holidays. Our Sunday services are usually at 12:00, 13:00 and 14:00, but please check our timetable and web-site carefully for the day you intend to visit.
We also run special events when extra trains run, see our red timetable.
Q: How much does it cost to ride?
A: Prices for our regular services are £5 for adults, £4 for concessions (aged 60+), and children aged 3-16 for £2.50.
These prices are for 'day rover' tickets and can be used on any/all of our services on the day.
Prices for special events can and do vary, so check the website for details!
(Day Rover Tickets are not valid on red timetable special events.)
Q. How long is your line?
A: The operational line is currently approximately 1 mile long, stretching between our station at Elsecar in the west, to Tingle Bridge Lane at Hemmingfield in the east. However, we are in the process of relaying, and opening a further mile of track to Cortonwood.
Q: What facilities do you have for the disabled?
A: We welcome all. Customers with disabilities or using a wheelchair are welcome. Please ask one of our station staff for assistance to board the train. As our carriages are from the 1950s they do not have wheelchair accessible doors, however on most services we are able to offer a ride in our Guard’s Van, through the wide parcels doors, and we have a ramp to make access easy with a Porter to assist you. Please phone 01226 746746 in advance to check that we are to accommodate you on the day you wish to travel. A wheelchair accessible toilet is available on the station.
